Who would YOU be?
So I have a fun reader poll.
Please participate.
Yes, even if you think that I have no idea that you even read my blog (yes, I know about you...)

Here is the question: If you could come back in another life as anyone you wanted, who would it be?
Here is the one rule: Please, no super- spiritual answers like Jesus Christ, or the Apostle Paul. This is supposed to be fun, not edifying. Thought- provoking is OK in moderation. And don't say, "I'd come back as myself, because my life is so great." That's no fun either.

I'll go first.
OK, so I would be Jennifer Lopez. I'm serious. Most people would be very surprised to learn that I am a closet Pop Music fan. It's just so upbeat. I love the attitude and the danceability. Back to JLO, not only is she gorgeous, but she is a singer and a dancer AND she owns at least two fantastic restaurants (I've been to two, there are probably more out there.) Madre's in Pasadena sealed the deal for me. It is a Cuban restaurant that has the aesthetic of a rich family's formal dining room, and you can tell that she got to choose everything, including the rose- covered wallpaper in the bathroom. Who else gets to do that just for fun, since they have the money and the fame?

JLo..Wow. I knew you were a pop music fan and I understand the latin aspect, but didn't she steal Miss Universe's husband? That's just not nice. (I've read too many People magazines, haven't I?)
Okay, so you got me thinking and I've made my choice...Shirley Temple.
She is amazing! The curls, the dimples, and don't even get me started on the tap dancing!!
She said words like "gollly", "gee" and "gosh" all in the same sentence. She was black and white. Well, in black and white movies, anyway, which I just love. The singing and dancing are a huge draw for me and the sugary sweetness. What I find most impressive, though, is the life she was able to lead after fame. She went on to be a ambassador to Ghana and Czechoslovakia and representative to the UN. She found true love and had children, which I would still want in my next life. I didn't actually know ALL of that about her until I googled her, but it just made me like her even more.

Oh, by the way.. I really hope that didn't provoke too much thought and in any way edify you. :)

Hmm... That is tough. I am a "no regrets, don't look back" type person so this type of exercise really is exercise for me.

No, I don't think I can do it. I just don't want anyone else's life. I can think of attributes that I would like to see in myself, but there is no person that I would like to be. Ok, maybe I would be a shepherd in the French countryside that makes cheese, but I don't actually know anyone who "is" that. As soon as I pick a person, I also pick all their problems, and I am content with my own, thanks.

I kinda agree with tech_sam. (c: A quiet life sounds really good to me. I'd pick someone in the Faroe Islands though, they've got a strong brethren heritage and it suits them very well.

Well, if we have to leave out people who count above and pick somebody here below, I would enjoy some things about being Jackie Chan. Not that I particulary want to think and speak in Chinese, but I'm fascinated by the way he can scale walls, jump over and through things, etc. He also has a good sense of humor that comes through in his acting. I was a gymnast, but am something of an acrophobe, so I'm also fascinated by Parkour and wish I still had a youthful body like Luke to practice at it. I ordered 'Jump Britain' and look forward to watching it with him when he comes out to visit.

I have always admired Gwen Stephanie. I love her passionate music writing ability and the fact that she has reinvented herself over the years from an OC ska girl to a super hot pop/rock star. She is upbeat, real and has great style. I also love the fact that one of her latest songs includes the goat hearder yodeling song from Sound of Music.
This was a fun question to think about. And yes, Ariana I CAN see you coming back as JLo.

I cracked up reading Daniel's response... I have been battling the same problem! I have wracked my brain! The only thing I know is that I want Linda Ronstandt's voice, but not her life... How bout my life with her voice...

Thanks everyone for playing! That was fun and mildly thought provoking. Although some of you made me think, "Darn-- I should have thought of that one!" I still stand by JLO. I didn't know about the husband-snatching. I thought the most unfortunate part of her career was dating Ben Affleck and making stupid looking movies like Gigli (I say stupid looking because I haven't actually seen them.) Anyway, thanks for the extra entertainment, everyone!

I'm a little late, and I loved reading what everyone wrote. I think I most closely related to Dan's comments... I'm a now and future person - always pretty content. But I do love the idea of a quiet life in a beautiful place with people to love and share with. But whose life is that? (Actually I feel like I already have that!)Yes, maybe Julia Child... Edith Schaeffer also attracts me... all the hospitality and ministry combined, plus wisdom, family and a significant life... anyway, thanks for making me think about it and letting me see everyone's ideas! Interesting and fun!
