No, thanks!
We are not pursuing that house anymore. We found out that there are lots RIGHT in front and back that will be developed into 2-story rental properties this summer. That house is so adorable and has so many great features and I think it's a cryin' shame that it is being boxed in and basically ruined that way. Oh, well. Things got a little hysterical around here trying to figure all of that out and deciding whether or not to try to buy it before someone else. Now that we know its future, I don't think there's going to be anyone rushing in. So we will keep looking. The good news is that we took care of all the financial stuff and are prequalified and ready to go, once we find the right one. There are a lot of cute little places out there!

You know... I was wondering if there was some fact about it that was keeping it from selling... it seemed so perfect, yet the sellers kept dropping the price. I'm glad you found out the scoop and I hope you find just the right place! That's the good thing about actually being in the area while you do your final search - you can get the feel for what's going on at a house and see if you like everything about it. Appreciate you taking the time to keep your interested public up to date! =)
I am glad you will have a place to live while you look around for a house. We are finding that with so many foreclosure options it is hard to spend more money to buy from the original owners. I was a little frustrated realizing that it takes more work to buy a foreclosure and most home owners that are selling are still unwilling to lower their prices to compete. When I realized that a house I had my eye on for 129K is now being offered at 89K after foreclosure, it made me realize that it really isn't that much more work to do when your talking a years salary, more or less! Especially when we add on the interest that we would pay on that money for 30 years! I am not sure if Portland is experiencing foreclosures at the rate the rest of the county is, but it is definitely something to look into when you get there.
